About NALS

The Nevada Association of Land Surveyors (NALS) was incorporated and chartered on November 2, 1973. As an Association of Professional Land Surveyors, our purpose is to promote the common good and welfare of our members in their activities in the profession of Land Surveying; to promote and maintain the highest possible standards of professional ethics and practice; to promote professional uniformity and to promote public awareness and trust in Professional Land Surveyors and their work. Today, NALS membership is over 200 strong and is comprised of Professional Land Surveyors, Land Surveying Interns, Associate Members, Corresponding Members, Sustaining Members and Student Members.

PURPOSE
The purpose of the Association shall be:
~ To promote the good and welfare of its members and their activities in the profession of land surveying.
~ To promote the common good and welfare of the public in terms of professional land surveying activities.
~ To promote and maintain the highest possible standards of professional ethics and practices.
~ To promote public awareness and trust in Professional Land Surveyors and their work.

Board of Directors

The NALS Board of Directors is comprised of the Officers (President, President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer) and the Directors. The Directors are elected by the Chapters based on the number of members. The Board of Directors is the ultimate governing authority of NALS and it oversees the implementation of all NALS policies and programs to ensure the organization's stability and viability to fulfill our mission.

Committees

NALS has 13 standing committees including: Bylaws, Membership, Advanced Education, Scholarships, Legislation, Publications, Continuing Education/Conference, Ethics, Communications, Outreach, Advanced Technology, and Nominating Committee. In addition, from time to time the Board of Directors may also create special or ad-hoc committees. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please contact the NALS Executive Office.

Chapters

One of the greatest benefits of membership is the ability to network with your peers. When you join NALS you will have the opportunity to join one of the NALS Chapters which allows you to meet locally with other Land Surveyors. Chapters include: Lahontan and Southern Nevada. Chapters offer montyly meetings, continuing education events, and networking opportunities.

By joining NALS you can participate in the exchange of new concepts and ideas. You can help to solve problems that may exist within the surveying profession.
