The NALS Executive Office will manage all logistics and Chapters would help promote locally and handle onsite registration and NALS would provide a percentage of proceeds to the Chapter.MOVED by Nick Ariotti and SECONDED to split the proceeds of a fall seminar 75% to NALS and 25% to Chapters. Action Item: Crissy to contact FEMA to schedule a fall seminar. LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEELegislative Committee Chair Robert Carrington has held several meetings to address the 2022 Datum. Final language is being reviewed and stakeholders are being contacted for support.Jason Higgins suggested that NALS request an opinion from BPELS regarding NRS 625.380regarding monumentation durability and whether plastic caps meet the requirement. MOVED by Jason Higgins and SECONDED to send a letter signed by President Todd Enke requesting BPELS provide an opinion regarding the durability of monuments, specifically if a plastic cap meets the requirements of NRS 625.380. MOTION CARRIED.Action Item: Jason to draft letter for review.LICENSING AD-HOC COMMITTEEReport included in agenda.Licensing Ad-Hoc Committee Chair Jason Higgins reported the committee has been meeting regularly. The committee has processed a vast amount of data and statistics to generate the recommendations included in the agenda. The next step, if the Board is in agreement, would be to collect information from the membership. MOVED by Nick Ariotti and SECONDED to authorize the Licensing Ad-Hoc Committee to develop a survey to be distributed to NALS members and non-members regarding their thoughts on an alternate path to licensure. MOTION CARRIED.NOMINATING COMMITTEEReport distributed.Nominating Committee Chair Nancy Almanzan reported the 2025 Slate of Candidates as follows:Nick Ariotti, PresidentFrank Wittie, Vice PresidentMichael Detwiler, SecretaryErik Denman, TreasurerTodd Enke, Immediate Past President (by succession)MOVED by Adam Boroski and SECONDED to accept the 2025 slate of candidates. MOTION CARRIED.Action Item: Crissy to send approved slate of candidates to the membership. Membership will have 30 days to make additional nominations. If no nominations received, a unanimous ballot will be cast.NSPS DIRECTORNSPS Director Nancy Almanzan reported on the spring NSPS meetings and Lobby Day. The CST Committee is looking for places to host their meetings. Level 4 CST is now requiring an interview instead of an essay due to the number of AI-generated essays they have received. NSPS Board of Directors authorized a letter being sent to URISA indicating that their proposed changes to the model law are not supported by NSPS. The next fall NSPS meetings will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nick will join Nancy in attendance.NDOT LIAISONNDOT Liaison Greg Phillips has discussed a roundtable with Anthony Whittington in Reno and Las Vegas to provide an overview of the NDOT system and what is available to Land Surveyors.WFPS DIRECTORWFPS will be developing a study course for the NCEES Professional Surveyor (PS) Exam. Anyone interested in providing content for the course, please reach out to Trent, Greg, or Crissy. The next meeting will be held October 12th in St. George, Utah and will be held in conjunction with the Final Point Ceremony for Ron Whitehead.CHAPTER REPORTS Southern Nevada Chapter report included in agenda.Both the Lahontan and SNALS Chapters continue to meet on a regular basis.
